1 teaspoon pure vanilla extract (optional, but recommend)
1 cup water
YIELD 6 servings
Combine all of the ingredients into a large pot and place over medium-low heat. Cover and cook for 15-20 minutes (mine took 20) until apples are soft. Check apples a few times to stir and adjust heat level as needed. The apples should be lightly simmering.
Let cool then mash with a fork, blend in blender or keep chunky. Store in refrigerator.
