Ingredients

  • 1 pack 500 g fresh gnocchi
  • 30 mL 2 tbsp. olive oil, divided
  • 1 broccoli, cut into little florets
  • 3/4 lb. 375 g minced pork
  • 1 yellow onion, chopped
  • 1 clove of garlic, minced
  • To taste salt and ground pepper
  • 3 mL 1/2 tsp. ground nutmeg
  • 3 mL 1/2 tsp. garlic salt
  • 500 mL 2 cups whipping cream
  • 375 mL 1 1/2 cups tomato sauce
  • 500 mL 2 cups baby spinach
  • 250 mL 1 cup cherry tomatoes, halved
  • To taste parmesan cheese, grated

Instructions

  • Cook the gnocchi according to package instructions.
  • Strain.
  • Set aside.
  • Preheat oven on "broil" (550 °F).
  • Install the rack as high as possible.
  • Place the broccoli and half of the olive oil on a baking sheet.
  • Season.
  • Combine.
  • Broil for 5–8 minutes or until the broccoli is toasted.
  • Set aside.
  • Heat remaining olive oil in a large pan.
  • Cook meat for 3 minutes.
  • Add onions and garlic.
  • Cook for 2 minutes.
  • Season with salt, pepper, nutmeg and garlic salt.
  • Add the cream and tomato sauce.
  • Bring to a boil.
  • Cook 2–3 minutes to slightly reduce the sauce.
  • Add the gnocchi, broccoli, spinach and cherry tomatoes.
  • Gently mix and cook for 1–2 minutes.
  • Serve and add freshly grated parmesan to taste.
  • Gnocchi is potato-based pasta.
  • It cooks quickly (it’s ready as soon as it floats to the surface of the water).
  • Cook in broth to give added flavour.
