Dimitri Mavrikos and his two brothers, Steve and George, came to Victoria from Vancouver with the dream of opening their own restaurant.

Their goal was to open a restaurant that not only offered excellent food but great service and a fun casual atmosphere as well.

They wanted a place that felt like home and in the summer of 1974 Romeo's Place was created.

The primary focus was signature pizza and pasta from recipes and techniques that had been passed down to the family.

It was these staples that would create a name for the new restaurant and helped create a passionate local following.

The menus also included a variety of popular local dishes such as steaks, chicken & veal, burgers & salads, as well as other original dishes from their homeland, Greece.

Delivery and takeout also proved to be an extremely popular option as the local market responded enthusiastically.
