Ring Electric owner Bryan Verhulp looks back on 15 years of serving the Ottawa area at the head of his family-owned business with gratitude.

Even though his passion for his company is obvious to his clients today (earning Ring Electric HomeStar’s “Best of” award for the past six years) Bryan didn’t think he would one day own his own electrical business when he joined the Royal Canadian Navy as an electrician in 1981

Change is something Bryan has embraced throughout his career, and after five years in the navy, he had the opportunity to attend the University of New Brunswick, earning a degree as an electrical engineer.

During that time, he was transferred to the Royal Canadian Air Force as an aerospace engineer and spent the next 15 years managing aircraft maintenance and personnel.

At just 39, Bryan retired as a captain after 20 years in the forces. To completely change things up, he worked at Home Depot for two years as an electrical manager.

During that time, he was asked to participate in the editing of the popular how-to book “Home Depot Electrical 123”.

It didn’t take long before the idea of starting his own business started to take shape, so he started the process to become a journeyman electrician and later completed his master electrician qualification.

Bryan is proud that Ottawa-area families can completely trust his company’s ability to do a job right while adhering to the highest professional standards in their industry – Ring Electric is a Licensed Electrical Contractor (LEC) and a member of the Authorized Contractor Program (ACP) with the Electrical Safety Authority of Ontario.

Since its start in 2003, the company has continually grown thanks to the priority Bryan gives to customer satisfaction and the professionalism he requires from his staff.
