Ingredients

  • 1 large onion, cut into half-rings
  • 2 cloves garlic, crushed or 2 cubes Gefen Frozen Garlic
  • 1 and 1/2 tablespoons oil
  • 2 bags green cabbage
  • 6 ounces Tuscanini Tomato Paste
  • 3/4 cup navy beans, presoaked
  • 15 ounces Tuscanini Crushed Tomatoes
  • 12 cups water
  • 1 tablespoon salt
  • 1/4 teaspoon pepper
  • 1 teaspoon oregano
  • 1 teaspoon basil
  • 2 chicken bottoms
  • 2 meat bones

Instructions

  • In an eight-quart pot, sauté onion and garlic in oil until translucent, about seven to 10 minutes.
  • Add cabbage, tomato paste, navy beans, crushed tomatoes, water, salt and spices.
  • Mix, then add chicken and meat bones.
  • Bring to a boil, then lower flame and simmer for three hours.
  • Remove meat bones and chicken bottoms.
  • Shred the chicken and return to pot.
