Ingredients

  • 1-1/2 cups flaked coconut , divided
  • 4 drops red food colouring
  • 24 cupcakes , cooled
  • 2 cups thawed Cool Whip Whipped Topping
  • 24 red string licorice pieces (4-inch)

Makes 2 doz. cupcakes or 24 servings, 1 cupcake each.

Instructions

  • 1. Place 3/4 cup of the coconut in a resealable plastic bag. Set remaining 3/4 cup coconut aside. Add red food colouring to coconut in bag. Seal bag; shake until coconut is evenly tinted.
  • 2. Spread tops of cupcakes with whipped topping. Sprinkle with red and white (uncoloured) coconuts as desired; press coconut gently into whipped topping to secure.
  • 3. Insert licorice piece into top of each cupcake for the "firecracker's fuse."
