Ingredients

  • 1 kg steak (beef) diced
  • 1 cup plain flour
  • 3 bacon rashers finely chopped
  • 12 onions small
  • 1 cup red wine
  • 2 cups beef stock (liquid)
  • 1 tsp dried thyme
  • 200 g button mushrooms whole
  • 2 bay leaves

Instructions

  • Place flour and diced steak in a large bag, shake.
  • Cook bacon but do not crisp. Remove from pan, then brown steak in pan without crowding. Remove.
  • Add onions to pan and cook until golden.
  • Combine all ingredients in pan and bring to boil, cover. Reduce to a simmer and cook for 1½ hours. Stir occasionally.
  • Remove bay leaves and serve.
