Ingredients

  • 2 tsp extra virgin olive oil
  • 1/2 onion diced
  • 1 kg beef mince
  • 4 97% fat-free rindless bacon rashers chopped into pieces
  • 1/2 cup frozen peas
  • 1/2 tsp nutmeg
  • 1/2 tsp salt
  • 1 tsp pepper
  • 2 tbs Gravox gravy powder
  • 1 cup cold water
  • 3 sheets puff pastry thawed
  • 1/2 cup tasty cheese shredded
  • 1 canola oil spray

Instructions

  • Pre-heat oven to 180C.
  • Heat oil in a large frypan and add onion, bacon and spices. Turn until onion starts to turn translucent.
  • Add beef mince and peas and continue to turn until the meat is browned. Break down any big chunks of meat.
  • Mix through the gravy and cold water mixture and simmer for 5-10 minutes on low heat. Take off the heat and allow to cool.
  • Spray a large pie pan with canola oil and line with one sheet of pastry.
  • If using cheese, sprinkle it over the pastry and top with a second sheet of pastry.
  • Put the meat mix into the pan and cover with the last sheet of pastry.
  • Turn up the over-hanging pastry corners, back over the pan.
  • Place the pie pan in the oven and bake for about 40 minutes.
