Ingredients

  • 1 kg (2 lb) ground venison
  • 1 small onion
  • 60 mL (1/4 cup) bread crumbs
  • 2 mL (1/2 teaspoon) garlic powder
  • 60 mL (1/4 cup) Kansas City Style Smokey Barbecue Sauce or Regular Barbecue Sauce
  • 8 Whole wheat hamburger buns
  • Old-fashioned mustard
  • Oka-style raclette cheese slices
  • Baby dill pickles, thinly sliced
  • lettuce leaves

Instructions

  • Preheat barbecue to medium-high heat.
  • In a bowl, combine ground venison, onion, bread crumbs and garlic powder.
  • Shape into 8 thin patties.
  • Brush each patty with barbecue sauce.
  • Place patties on barbecue grill and cook for 4 to 5 minutes on each side, or until meat is no longer pink inside and internal temperature reaches 70°C (160°F).
  • Place hamburger buns on the upper grill and toast for about 2 minutes, or until hot.
  • Garnish each burger as desired.
