Affected products

This recall involves Carex Bed Support Rails. The bed rail consists of a bent tubular metal frame that inserts between the mattress and the box spring, used as a support to help adults get into and out of bed. It contains an optional strap used to prevent the bed rail from moving and falling when in use.

The Carex adult portable bed rail has a white bent tubular metal frame with a black foam grip. The model number may be identified as FGP56600 0000 or P566.

Issue

Users of the recalled products can become entrapped between the mattress and the support rail if the retention strap is not properly installed or within the rails of the product, which can lead to serious injury or death by asphyxia.

As of December 6, 2021, the company has not received any reports of incidents or injuries in Canada and has received 3 reports of fatalities and no other reports of incidents or injuries in the USA.

Consumers should immediately stop using the recalled product and contact Compass Health Brands for a free repair kit.
