Our Roots

Founder and owner, Dave Stansfield, has deep roots in Indonesian and our local furniture market that stretch back 20 years.

During his travels, Dave was so inspired by the teak wood quality, artisan culture, and handcraft expertise, he established relationships with suppliers that included a network of family-run workshops.

In 1999 Dave began importing and wholesaling high quality handmade teak furniture in Vancouver to retailers across the country.

In 2003, Dave opened his first retail outlet, The Teak Tree, on Vancouver Island, BC, in Nanaimo’s historic Old City Quarter, which still operates today, serving customers throughout Vancouver Island and Metro Vancouver.
