On January 1, 1976, at the age of 25, Alex Hamilton began operating a sole proprietorship heating company carrying on business under the name of “Hamilton Heating”.
The company was located about 5 miles east of the Town of Durham in a part of Glenelg Township locally known as “The Glen” on the same property as the Hamilton family resided.
It was a small business in the beginning consisting mostly of annual cleaning and maintenance of oil furnaces and a 24 hour repair service.
Over the years the business grew to include installation of both oil and gas furnaces and air conditioners as well as maintenance and repair services.
The business grew steadily over the years and eventually a plumber was hired and two heating technicians to keep up with the current customer base and their needs. One of the new technician’s was Alex’s son Sandy Hamilton.
Real estate in the area was flourishing as was the plumbing and heating business and Sandy’s ideas for growth of the company.
On January 5, 2000, Sandy took over the operation of the company renaming it “Sandy Hamilton Heating”.
Under his supervision Sandy steadily increased the business including the number of certified technicians and service vans to better serve his customers.
June 1, 2009, Sandy made the decision to incorporate and the small heating business that began 33 years ago became known as Sandy Hamilton Plumbing & Heating Inc.
In addition to the services already provided, Sandy began upgrading the business facilities, equipment and service vans. He also hired additional office staff to assist him in providing customer service as efficiently as possible.
Sandy expanded the business in May, 2013, by purchasing the well-established and reputable companies known as Northern Heating and Ventilation and Classical Gas with locations in Berkeley and Owen Sound.
These businesses have now been amalgamated to the primary location in “The Glen” with a secondary warehouse in Berkeley.
This purchase added an extensive customer base, geothermal ground source heating and cooling systems as well as additional technicians, sales and office staff.
Sandy and his employees work diligently to provide the best equipment and dependable service to satisfy the needs of their customers.
