In 1923, Antonio Calligaris produced the first "Marocca" chair and in the subsequent years, his son Romeo continued to grow the business into an international success. While remaining a family business over the many decades that followed, Calligaris established itself as one of the largest Italian furniture manufacturers through a strong commitment to quality, technological innovation, and style. In 2007, Calligaris partnered with L Capital 2 to further leverage the fashion and design expertise of its famed parent company: the LVMH (Louis Vuitton Moet Hennessy) Group.

Calligaris Store by Adobe House in Vancouver became the first Calligaris branded store to open in Canada in 2008.
